The JA Club provides an entrepreneurial learning experience for young people aged 15 to 19. The JA Club seeks to nurture a new generation of entrepreneurial, innovative and civic-minded talents for Cyprus. Participants learn how to take a business idea from concept to reality and have hands-on experience of running a real business, from team formation, capital raising, business plan development, product development, marketing and sales to liquidating the company.

ESP is an international qualification that certifies that students have had a real entrepreneurship experience, and have gained the necessary knowledge, skills and competences to start a business or to be successfully employed. Successful participation in the ESP increases the chances of students being admitted into universities of their choosing, as well as the achievement of their professional goals.

We are happy to inform you that Eleni Markidou (Year 6) who is one of the JA Innovation Camp winners will travel to Washington, USA. This is a great opportunity for Eleni to network with other students and gain new entrepreneurial experiences.
The Entrepreneurial Summit event will take place from the 8th until the 12th of July 2019. With the support and guidance of local business volunteer consultants, the JA Entrepreneurship Summit will push high school students to think out of the box and develop creative solutions.
2019 Junior Achievement Company of the Year Competition Finale and Award Ceremony – April 2019
The 2019 Junior Achievement Company of the Year Competition Finale and Award Ceremony took place on Friday 19th April 2019 from 16:30-21:00 at Royal Hall in Nicosia.
During the event, the top 10 finalists out of 52 student companies created under the 2019 Junior Achievement Programme, pitched their entrepreneurial ideas in an attempt to secure the title of ‘Company of the Year’.
BioxCare and SoyJoy were in the top 10 finalists.
The teams had amazing presentations showcasing their individual products. They worked really hard on their presentation and content in a truly professional manner.

Trade Fair - March 2019
This marks the 5th year the American Academy Larnaca is participating in the Junior Achievement Competition promoting youth entrepreneurship. On Saturday 16th March at the Mall of Cyprus (Nicosia); talented student entrepreneurs, aged 15-19, from all over Cyprus, showcased their innovative products and services. Our school took part with the following teams: Bioxcare, ChewGone, SoyJoy and Strawvision. While exhibiting, experienced jury members walked through the student company stands and evaluated the business ideas of the students. That assessment will play a key role in deciding the 10 finalists that will move on to pitch their ideas in public at the Company of the Year Competition Finale and Award Ceremony that will take place on Friday 19th April 2019.
3rd World 1st Fair - February 2019
On Saturday 2nd February 2019, the 3rd World 1st Club organised a major fundraising event in the school auditorium to support the work of Sophia Foundation. Two of the Junior Achievement teams (ChewGone and StrawVision) participated. This was an excellent opportunity for both of the teams to promote their products and raise money for a good cause.
Branding Seminar - January 2019
On Friday 25th January 2019, 11 students had the opportunity to participate in the Masterclass: "The Power of Social Media for Branding and Communication - How to Show Your Company through Social Networks". The seminar was organized by CYTA, a Junior Achievement partner since 2014. The training was delivered in Greek by social networking specialists of Social Lab from Greece at CYTA Headquarters in Nicosia.
Participants will receive a certificate of attendance. CYTA, in the framework of the Junior Achievement of Cyprus Best Branding and Communication Award, will award student companies based on their presence on the Social Networks at JA Finale in April. The American Academy Larnaca team included, Myrofora Markidou, Marios Constantinides, Anna Petrou, Danae Stylianou, Prokopis Georgiou, Elli Economou, Vasileia Nicola, Charalambos Leontiou, Epifanios Stylianou, Eleni Papachristoforou and Andreas Michael.
Innovation Camp - January 2019
On the 18th January 2019, 7 students participated in the one day Bi-Communal Innovation Camp at the premises of POED in Nicosia. These students were selected by the Junior Achievement Club.
We are delightd that Eleni Markidou and her team made it to 1st place of the competition. Eleni will have the chance to take part in a summer programme abroad next summer covered by JA Cyprus thanks to the support of the US Embassy Cyprus. Gabriella Gabriel and her team were also in the Top 6 teams of the competition.
The American Academy Larnaca team included, Andreas Michael, Petros Poyiatzis, Eleni Markidou, Danai Stylianou, Nely Georgiou, Gabriella Gabriel and Marialeni Nicolaou.
Junior Achievement Training - February 2019
On Monday 18th of February 2019 our start-up companies (ChewGone, Strawvision, Bioxcare and SoyJoy) attended the Junior Achievement training in Limassol.
During the seminar, the attention was focused on providing instructions for the implementation of the program and the final phase of the Company of the Year Competition and guidelines for the proper preparation as well as writing of the company report (report) and completing the financial statements of the enterprise (financial report).
Junior Achievement October 2018
On the 19th October 2018 the Club supervised by Business Faculty teachers was pleased to welcome Mrs Eloiza Savvidou (CEO JA Cyprus). Eloiza gave a speech to students at school’s premises. The presentation focused on the Junior Achievement entrepreneurship programme details. She kindly provided valuable feedback to the teams participating this academic year. The great importance of conducting appropriate market research was particularly emphasised. Overall, it was an excellent opportunity for the current Junior Achievement members to receive first-hand information about the JA programme. Thank you Eloiza and good luck to all teams!

On Saturday 24th March at the Mall of Cyprus (Nicosia); talented student entrepreneurs, aged 15-19, from all over Cyprus, showcased their innovative products and services. While exhibiting, experienced jury members walked through the student company stands and evaluated the business ideas of the students. That assessment played a key role in deciding the 10 finalists that got to pitch their ideas in public at the Company of the Year Competition Finale and Award Ceremony.
Fundraising Event – 3rd World 1st Club
On Saturday 31st of March 2018 from 15:00-18:00, the 3rd World 1st Club organised a major fundraising event in the school auditorium to support the work of the Sophia Foundation.
Two of the JA teams (Profusion & O.B Crunch) participated.
All the proceeds from the 3rd World 1st Fair including the proceeds from the JA teams were donated to Sophia Foundation. This was an excellent opportunity to promote and sell their products.
2018 Junior Achievement Company of the Year Competition Finale and Award Ceremony – April 2018
The 2018 Junior Achievement Company of the Year Competition Finale and Award Ceremony took place on Friday 27th April 2018 from 16:00-20:45 at Royal Hall in Nicosia.
During the event, the top 10 finalists out of 57 student companies created under the 2018 Junior Achievement Programme, pitched their entrepreneurial ideas in an attempt to secure the title of ‘Company of the Year’.
Profusion was in the top 10 finalists and won the Best Company Report Award. Congratulations to Antoni Byros, Stefano Marcos Malinen, Giorgo Kosta, Aliki Stavrou, John Kross Pepito Leyson, Luka Papachristoforou, Stavro Savva and Panteli Koshias.

Innovation Camp – November 2017
On the 17th November 2017, 9 students participated in the one day Bi-Communal Innovation Camp at the University of Nicosia. These students were selected by the Junior Achievement Club.
Stelia Hadjiyiannaki and her team made it to second place of the competition.
Our students behaved perfectly and demonstrated that they had the skills of collaborative learners, team-players, critical and creative thinkers. We are pleased to state that 2 of our students were in the Top 6 teams of the competition! The American Academy Larnaca team included, Sofia Stylianou, John Leyson, Mina Eleftheriou, Nikola Fournari, Giorgo Vranga, Antoni Byro, Stelia Hadjiyiannaki and Michael Pitsillide.
Participating teams: Greenplay, Cleopatra’s Essence, Frilac, Yobee.
GreenPlay, which is a game, that enables users to plant real trees with their in-game points, was in the finals and won the runner up Company of the Year 2016.

Two of the companies (Weekflip and Springers) made it in the final 10 that year.
Most Potential Future Value Award was awarded to Week Flip. The company received an invitation to the Start-Up Academy Pitch Battle competition where they won €5,000 in services to develop their company. The Weekflip planner has become a staple accessory at the American Academy Larnaca since.
Springers, which produces insect repellents that keep bugs away during the hot months of summer and spring, was awarded the Company of the Year Award, and represented Cyprus in the European Company of the Year competition in Berlin, Germany.
