I’m standing here, and the expected procedure is for me to talk about myself and how I’m going to make changes around the school but this is not about me, this is about you; this is about us.
So “Let’s make the Academy great again.”
But we won’t be building walls, not between anyone, and not between anything. Being united is a core concept of the brotherhood which I have been a part of for 7 years. While being part of the brotherhood executive committee I realised that good communication is the only way to ensure stability and the results that we strive for. Shouting is not the right or only way to make something happen or express a point nor is this good communication; good communication is negotiation, something that I am very much capable of. The experiences I gained by being in the executive committee last year, were valuable and these are what I want to offer to the rest of you. And changes did happen around the school, for example: Some of the yard was fixed to avoid flooding; and we managed to get the kiosk open near the year 6 benches, just look at the results. This year? What you want to change is what I will work on.
I understand that each and every one of us have their own personal targets, whether that be achieving good grades, in sports or in extracurricular activities, I have been in each of your positions and I am here to listen and help you all on this journey. My personal targets involving the Brotherhood? Well, this is a tough year for all of us, Year 4’s: You’ve just begun your GCSEs; things get serious here. Year 5: You’ve got a ton of exams coming up and it’s not going to be easy. Year 6: good luck… no, seriously this is an exciting year for you so just enjoy every second of it, and lastly, TC18, this is our final year, the year we graduate, we all know that this is going to be a pressurising year so we all need to help each other because we’re all in this together — and that doesn’t only apply to the Year 7s, it applies to all you sitting here and everyone out there. My point is that we all have a difficult road ahead of us; I’d want to ensure that everything runs as smoothly as possible.
To make the Academy great again we need a great president. What separates the good from the great is trust, dedication and results. I’ve already proven myself time and time again of these capabilities to the 130 of you sitting here…now I want to show the rest of you who I am, what I can do, and how much I can accomplish. I’m asking all of you to trust me, and I won’t disappoint. I am here to prove to you that I can speak for myself and for all of you.
My main goal will be you. I won’t make fake promises about change, as president I will be realistic, but I will also be optimistic. I will listen to what you want and try my hardest to give it to you whilst working in the best interest of our school. I will not only be working for my year group, but for every single student in our school and for everyone in the years to come.
In over 14 years at this school I have grown, and now I am ready to serve.
