The activity was highly successful since it was attended by a number of students, mainly those taking business subjects and others who have not yet decided what to study in the future. Accompanying the students were Mr. George Georgiou (sponsor of the club) and Ms Eleni Papaspyrou.
The presenter fully explained the role of a professional accountant in general and then continued by referring to PWC, which is a major international accountancy firm, employing thousands of people all around Europe; in Cyprus alone it has one thousand employees.
The speaker outlined the various routes to becoming an accountant, as well as remuneration at all levels of the hierarchy. She continued by specifying the qualification required in order to be sponsored as a trainee in such a big firm, whilst informing students of their partnerships with universities in the UK providing fast-track programs.
At the end of the presentation students asked questions as the presentation proved enlightening and extremely useful for those considering accountancy as a profession in the future, emphasizing that accountants are well-informed people, offering a variety of business advice for their clients.
