Summertime may be long from over, but Results Day marks the beginning of a new academic journey for all our graduates. The Academic Counselling department has worked tirelessly alongside students for university applications throughout the entire academic year, and will see students through in this final step of the process.
At 8:00 you can get your results from the Exams Office. Universities get your A-Level results directly from the exam boards (Edexcel, AQA, OCR). If you get the grades your firm choice university requested, well done! To make sure that this is the case, log into UCAS Track, which should inform you that your place is confirmed. If you got the grades for your Insurance choice University, your place should be confirmed on UCAS Track, and you must make immediate arrangements for accommodation.
If you have performed better than the conditions of your offer and hold a place at a university, you try to find a higher-ranking University. The great thing about this process is that you get to keep your place but also look around for a better choice. Students who opt for this choice, must also make immediate arrangements for accommodation, and can do so with the help of the counsellors.
Clearing is the process by which students who didn’t make their firm or insurance choice offer requirements find a place at University. Once Universities go through the results of the students, they decide who to accept and who to reject. If a student is rejected (because he did not meet the conditions of his offer), then that University has a vacant place. These vacancies are advertised on the UCAS website on results day and students apply for them.
The school counsellors will be at the office for questions about all issues concerning university entrance. At 9:00, we will start checking to see who got their place. From 10:00 until 16:00, we will be helping students with confirmation of places. After 16:00, you can email or call us. On Friday, August 18th, we will be in at 9:00 until 13:00, to continue processing students' places. From Monday, August 21st onwards there will be no fixed hours, but you can contact either of us or our secretary to arrange a time.
