The presentation was held in the premises of the company in Nicosia and the subject was “Future work and career opportunities in the field of professional accountancy, new technologies and EY’s global presence, values and opportunities.”
Mr. G. Georgiou, the sponsor of the Business Club, Mrs. Antri Kourti, the head of the Business Faculty, and Ms Eleni Papaspyrou accompanied the students. The presentation was highly successful since it was attended by a large number of students. Mainly those studying business subjects and others who have not yet decided what to study in the future.
The presenter Mr. Marios Aristotelous outlined the EY’S global presence, which operates in more than 150 countries and employs 250,000 people globally. Additionally, he briefly explained the range and professional services offered by EY in Cyprus showing the variety and career opportunities of a qualified accountant.
He continued by stating the various benefits of being employed by a leading internal accountancy firm like EY. Moreover, Mr. Aristotelous described the vital use of new technologies, such as robots in the accounting profession in order to store and process data. Lastly, he clarified the various routes to becoming a qualified accountant and the qualification required for a sponsorship as a trainee in a firm.
At the end of the presentation the audience asked questions that Mr. Aristotelou and his colleagues answered.
The presentation proved to be the most enlightening and was extremely helpful for students considering accountancy as a profession in the future as it showed accountants are well informed people, offering all kinds of business advice and gave them the opportunity to solve any questions in a friendly and informal atmosphere.
