I have always loved teaching and found it rewarding and exciting. It is a privilege to work with young people in this way, in a spirit of shared intellectual enquiry. As I progressed through my career I discovered the challenges and rewards of working more widely with the whole school community, guiding and supporting staff and working closely with parents and other partners. Education is a shared journey: we all have the one aim in view and that is to achieve the best for the children in our care, helping them to reach their potential, whatever that might be.
It is our job to ensure that the pupils in our care are happy to come to school, that they reach excellent standards of achievement and that they develop their talents and interests and become confident individuals ready to take their place in an increasingly global society. It is also important to foster in young people an understanding of and respect for others and for the world’s diversity. They should feel valued and value others in turn.
My vision is of a school where creativity and innovation lead to continuous improvement in a context of challenge and support so that children and adults alike can feel excited by their learning and achieve success.
