I have studied Banking and International Finance at City University London where I graduated with a BSc. with upper second. On my return in Cyprus I worked for the Central Bank of Cyprus for a period of five years and then returned to London to work for International Investment Banks. My experience includes some of the biggest banks in the world such as ABN AMRO Bank and DEPFA Bank rising to the level of Managing Director. After the global financial crisis I offer consultancy services in selected sectors such as environment and infrastructure investment. In 2013 in the midst of the financial crisis in Cyprus I was appointed by the Central Bank of Cyprus and the Ministry of Finance to the Board of Bank of Cyprus as a interim director ad subsequently voted as vice chairman of the board and head of the Risk Committee. My mandate was to restore the financial stability and transfer the bank to the new shareholders which we did successfully.
At the time being I provide financial consultancy to selected clients in Cyprus and some EU clients in ESG related project financing.
I recall during the years of 1960-1968 a very strong emphasis on both our spiritual and physical fitness in addition to Academic. Despite the strict oversight we learned how to be disciplined and comply with school regulations.
The days when Mr. Chattalas introduced us to the beauty of classical music and the fellowship meetings with AAL. Also the competition with the other schools such as the English School and Melkonian Institute. This was very didactic to compete and do so with integrity and dignity. The importance of ethics and moral values have been at the core of everything we were taught at the AAL. This school helped me to appreciate that the values of accountability and dedication are invaluable.
