When always asked for which school I have attended, my response has always been given with pride and pretty much always received with respect… “I have graduated from the American Academy in Larnaca”. And my response had nothing to do with “showing off”, but given instead with the outmost respect for my school and the people involved with it.
Today, I am operating the family owned milk processing plant “achnagal”, alongside my siblings, but solely running the dairy cow farm, which is supplying our factory with fresh quality milk on a daily basis. Dealing with milk, is a 24/7 commitment, but my time at the AA, has taught me that we need to love whatever it is that we are doing!
I can vividly remember from my early moments at the AA, being impressed with the commitment of the people working from every post in the school, which has taught me, that the AA is an “idea”, and not just one of the schools I have attended! Nowadays, more than 20 years after my graduation, I have been impressed to find so many people still serving this “idea”, substantiating our school’s moto “To Grow and to Serve”!
The AA broadened my view of the world around us, and gave me the self confidence to enter a studies and career unknown to most. I was actually the first graduate from Cyprus in the USA with a degree of “Dairy Science”, which combines the knowledge of working with dairy animals and milk processing.
