In the American Academy Nursery and Pre- Junior classes, our aim is for your child to enjoy every single day and learn through fun, creative and engaging activities. We work hard to ensure children receive the very best opportunities to become confident and inquisitive learners.
In the Nursery we follow the Early Years Framework which consists of seven areas of learning with all areas being important and inter-connected. Three areas are particularly crucial for supporting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning; these are known as the prime areas:
The knowledge and experience gained from the prime areas compliment the next four areas naturally. These are known as the specific areas:
In the Nursery there is a strong emphasis on learning through play, which can be child initiated and planned play. The curriculum is delivered through a combination of whole class activities, adult led focused activities and child initiated activities. When the children transition to Pre-Junior they build on the knowledge and skills that they have acquired in the Nursery, and learning continues to be through play and exploration together with teacher led activities. The children are given new opportunities to extend their learning as they progress towards the Early Learning Goals at the end of Pre-Junior.
In the Early Years Classes (E2, E3, P1 and P2) our day begins from 07:15 when parents drop their child off and he/she can get settled and start the morning routine. All children must be in school by 07:30 when we start our daily schedule. Our day ends at 13:15.
